And the relentless pursuit of education and experience! Any fool can get on camera, just look at the internet. We're just dog trainers. Trainers who're passionate about learning, experience, and relationships.

WHO IS JENNIFER THORNBURG?

Owner. EDUCATOR. DOG TRAINER. MOM.

If you’re looking for a dog trainer in Durham, NC, you’ve come to the right place. Jennifer Thornburg has been involved in the dog world for more than 16 years. Her formal education includes certifications from CATCH, Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers® (CCPDT®). and the highly-regarded Karen Pryor Academy but she credits the dogs she’s worked with over the years for teaching her the most important concepts of behavior and training. Jennifer remains informed of the latest research and training techniques and continuing education by attending workshops and seminars. You can find more about certifications for dog trainers here.

Her goal is to provide families with effective, professional, and humane training for their dogs- training that makes life easier, by teaching people to help their dogs navigate the structure of normal family life. She’ll evaluate your unique circumstances with care and compassion to determine effective strategies to ease stress and improve safety for every situation and every family.

Jennifer is committed to training without the use of pain, discomfort, fear, or startling. She believes in rewarding desired behaviors instead of waiting for dogs to make mistakes. By creating an environment in which dogs are eager to learn, and incorporating reinforcement into everyday life, good behavior becomes a habit for both the dog and the human.

When she’s not training, Jennifer is trying to raise a good human who loves and respects dogs too. Jen enjoys time with her family and training her own dog to pick up things around the house and bring them to her.

WHO IS Laura Babb?

Senior Dog Trainer

Laura’s dog journey started with rescuing a tiny 5 week old pit bull mix in 2005. After a few years of fostering for a local rescue group, that led to a strong interest in training and educating.

Laura has volunteered for several years at local animal shelters, such as Paws4ever and The APS of Durham, assisting with behavior evaluations, playgroups and general education.

She has attended numerous workshops and seminars including the well-known Pat Miller training academy. As well as achieving certification through CPDT-KA.
Her philosophy is education is key to a happier relationship between dogs and their humans.

The dog and human connection is special and Laura wants to help you nurture that though pain-free training. Laura believes in creating an environment where dogs are enthusiastic to learn by reinforcing welcomed behaviors through positive reinforcement using patience, food, toys and praise.

Laura currently has a Beagle/Chow mix, Silky Terrier and 2 cats living in Person Co with her husband.
